Directory Privacy Notice

Directory privacy notice

How we handle information about the restaurants listed in our directory.

What we publish

Each directory listing shows a limited set of factual, public information about the restaurant:

  • Restaurant name, cuisine, city, and neighbourhood
  • Street address (public business address)
  • Website URL, shown as plain text (not a clickable link)
  • Cropped screenshots of the homepage, with the capture date
  • Google PageSpeed scores and factual technical measurements of the public website

What we do not publish

We deliberately exclude personal and aggregated data from the public directory:

  • No phone numbers
  • No email addresses
  • No owner, staff, or customer names
  • No customer reviews, ratings, or photos
  • No data from Google Maps, Yelp, TripAdvisor, or other aggregators

Our lawful basis

We process this information under the legitimate interests basis of UK GDPR. Our interest is in providing a transparent, factual directory of restaurant website quality to help the industry improve web standards. We have balanced this against the rights of the businesses listed by limiting the data we display to publicly observable facts and honouring removal requests promptly.

How long we keep data

Measurements are retained for as long as the listing is published. Historical measurements may be kept in internal logs for auditing but are not displayed publicly. Once a listing is removed, we delete public-facing data within 7 days.

Your rights under UK GDPR

If you are a restaurant owner or a representative of a business listed in our directory, you have the right to:

  • Request a copy of the data we hold about your business (right of access)
  • Request correction of inaccurate information (right to rectification)
  • Request complete removal of your listing, with no justification required (right to erasure)
  • Object to our processing on legitimate interests grounds (right to object)
  • Lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO)

How to request removal

To remove a listing, email [email protected] with the restaurant name and the URL of the listing. We aim to action removal requests the same day. No proof of ownership is required.
